Book Title: Matched by Ally Condie
Topic: Utopian, Love,
Rebellion
Thoughts: I like
finding a series of books in which I can continue to read about the same character. This was not one of them. I thought Matched
had too many slow parts, maybe because this is a utopian society and the
government Society Officials have everything mapped out for everyone. Life is
supposed to move slower.
At the Match banquet, both boys and girls view a screen to
see who they will marry. Cassia and best
friend Xander are the only two in her town who are Matched to each other. All the others are Matched to others from a
different town. Later Cassia’s Match
microchip shows her Ky’s face. Cassia
realizes she is missing out getting to know her Match, as the other teenagers
are doing, and has to decide does she end up with the familiar or choose the
unknown? Cassia’s eyes begin to be
opened about her “perfect” society and she decides to rebel as teenagers today
would.
This book was not a perfect match to me, but I will probably
read Crossed just to see what happens
to Cassia.
