Book Title: A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron
Topic: Dogs
Thoughts: So far
this is one of my top 5 books that I have read this school year, and, yes, I
have read more than five! I have read
more books this year than I have students in my classroom.
Cameron tells the story through the eyes of a dog who keeps
being reborn until he figures out what his purpose in life is. Bailey experiences life as a stray mutt, a
German Shepard, a golden retriever, and a black lab. I am not as fond of our current dog as my
husband and children are because she cannot replace our past dog, but as I read A Dog’s Purpose, I called her over to
the couch where I sat nestled up reading and pet her through the entire
book.
This book made me laugh, cry, and feel guilty about how I
ignore my current dog. I hope my last
dog continues to be reborn to find me and fulfill its own purpose.
I cried at the end of Marley& Me, but I shed several tears as I read this book and am getting
teary-eyed remembering my past dogs whom I have had the joy to love.
